Privacy policy
Effective: 23 October 2026 · Last updated: 23 October 2026
filterslop is a Chrome extension that removes bait and time-wasters from your YouTube feed. This privacy policy explains what we collect when you use filterslop, how we use it, who we share it with, and the controls you have over your data.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to run filterslop:
- Account information: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
- Video information: the title, channel, length, view count and the start of the description of the videos on your YouTube screen, and each video’s public thumbnail, which our server fetches from YouTube. See section 2.
- Filter settings: the goals, interests, custom filters and focus topics you choose.
- Billing information: handled by our payment provider, Dodo Payments. We receive your plan and payment status, never your full card number.
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser type and request times from our server logs. We don’t use analytics or advertising trackers.
- Support messages: anything you send us by email.
2. What the extension reads on YouTube
The extension only runs on youtube.com. To decide what to filter, it reads the video cards on your screen and sends the video information above, together with your filter settings, to our server to be checked.
- What it never reads: your watch history, search history, comments, what you click or watch, your YouTube or Google account, or any other website.
- What stays on your device: your list of filtered videos, the videos you mark “Not slop”, your stats, and a 7-day memory of recent results. These are stored in Chrome and removed when you uninstall the extension.
- What we don’t keep: our server passes video information to our scoring provider and does not store it.
3. How we use your information
- To filter your YouTube feed according to your settings.
- To create and manage your account and subscription.
- To send sign-in codes, receipts and important account notices.
- To keep filterslop secure and prevent abuse.
- To reply to your support requests.
We don’t sell your data, use it for advertising, or allow it to be used to train AI models. The use of information received from the filterslop extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with the providers that help us run filterslop, and only what each one needs:
- TypeSafe: checks video information against your settings. It never receives your email or IP address and does not train on your data.
- Supabase: accounts and database, hosted in India.
- Vercel: website and server hosting.
- Dodo Payments: payments, billing and tax, as our Merchant of Record.
- Resend: sign-in emails.
- Cloudflare: security and bot protection on the sign-in page.
- Google: sign-in, only if you choose Sign in with Google.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
5. Data retention

7. Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, our database is encrypted at rest, and each account can only access its own data. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
8. International transfers
Our providers may process your data outside your country, including in India and the United States. Where required, they protect it with standard contractual clauses.
9. Children’s privacy
filterslop is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
10. Cookies
The website only uses browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your setup answers. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. The sign-in page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are not a bot.
